In 1962, India Garage was appointed as the sole Bangalore distributor for Burshane Gas, a brand created by the merger of Burmah and Shell, for whom VST & Sons had earlier distributed kerosene. LPG cylinders were still a rather new concept at the time and the firm?s employees had to canvas the product to skeptical customers, worried that the cylinders were prone to explode. The business began with outlets in VV Puram and Malleswaram, later appointing a sub-dealer for the Majestic area.
In 1974, India Garage cemented a distributorship for Indane Gas on the strength of its network and proven sales power after Burmah and Shell discontinued its petroleum business. Today, India Garage's LPG business has grown substantially in size and value.
